Internet safety

Virtual Global Taskforce

The Virtual Global Taskforce is an alliance of law enforcement agencies from around the world working together to fight online child abuse.

It was set up in response to lessons learned from investigations into online child abuse, both in the UK and overseas, and aims to deter individuals from committing online child abuse through a range of crime prevention and reduction initiatives. The taskforce is currently chaired by Jim Gamble, Deputy Director General of the National Crime Squad.

The mission of the Virtual Global Taskforce is:

  • To make the internet a safer place
  • To identify, locate and help children at risk
  • To hold perpetrators appropriately to account

Children and young people should be made aware of the potential dangers of the internet and taught how to use the internet with this in mind. Information on how to keep safe can be found on the Virtual Global Taskforce children's homepage.
