Connexions Personal Advisers
A key element of Connexions is the provision of information, advice and guidance by a workforce of personal advisors.
Good Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) helps young people make the right learning and career choices and enables them to find answers to the questions and issues which can arise in their personal lives. A range of IAG resources are available below.
The Connexions Service Specifications for LAs
include:
1. Access to Advisers
Local authorities must provide all 13- to 19-year-olds, and all those up to 25
years old with a learning difficulty or disability, with reasonable,
face-to-face access to a Personal Adviser to provide information, advice,
guidance, advocacy and brokerage (including brokering access to targeted youth
support services).
2. Minimum qualifications for advisers
As a minimum, each personal adviser must have, or be actively working towards,
an NVQ level 4 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, and have undertaken
relevant appropriate assessment training
